Good grief! Are we talking about Acrobat 6?
Acrobat's instructions make no mention of having to put this on a server to
make it work. That's absurd, and unusable, for distributed client systems.

The code adobe uses is very simple but only works on a server,.that is
opening to a specific page only works if the PDF is on a server. Client
workstations then are taken to the correct page by the link. But if you are
trying to use a link from one PDF to another on a client machine, it won't
work.
