You can also download the free Speech SDK from Microsoft.

I have implemented the Dragon software for a lawyer and his legal
assistants. It was the version specifically for lawyers, so he paid >2x
more than the standard edition (difference: none that I could tell,
other than the installed vocabulary file and the formatting controls for
case citations). Strengths: *very* easy to learn for a Word user; good
voice-recognition patterns (relatively few miscues when speaking clearly
or at normal rate *into* the mike); good file outputs (.rtf for
cross-platform situations). Weaknesses: RAM needed and used;
incompatibility with other audio/video programs (e.g., WMP or WinAmp; it
tended to try and open everything audio, even when not a dragon
program), though this was resolved; and having the legal ass't edit the
output file while listening to the original audio (part training issue,
part software issue; it took longer to help her learn to use the tools
than it should have).
The firm had initially been attracted to using the VR feature advertised
in Word, but after some investigation, found that it was easier and
cheaper in the long run to buy the off-the-shelf stuff.

My $0.02, anyway - YMMV.
