As part of the class, you should introduce them to the documentation necessary for the software development life cycle. If they understand the need for
clearly written, unambiguous, logically organized
documented requirements and design BEFORE coding,
which entails bringing tech writers into the process at an early stage,
maybe we would get some good software...
