Anachie Shakespear [mailto:omath -at- lycos -dot- com] wanted to know:

Does anyone out there have any presentation slides that relate to:

1. Why you should move from hardcopy documentation to Online Help?--the benefits, advantages, etc.

Money. Paper, printing, binding, distribution. Money.

Time. Preparing and formatting for print (more detailed, time-consuming work than publishing help). Waiting for print production (or, worse, doing it yourself). Packing and shipping. Time. Which equals money.

Did I mention money?

Of course, if you provide print-formatted electronic documents to your customer so that they can do the printing, you've only shifted the cost, effectively raising the price of your product. But if you can get away with online help alone, with a bare minimum of ancillary documents, you've save money for both your company and your customer.
