But that's still not the same thing as Master/Slave.
No, which is why primary/secondary seems to work better here. How can you have more than one master clock? If each rules a different part of the system, then each is the master clock for that particular part. If one clock is slightly more important than the others, but all others depend on it to some degree, then it is the master and all others are slaves, regardless of whether they depend on it slightly or a lot. If one is the active clock and the others are active only when this one fails, then it is the primary clock and the rest are secondary.
