You can flip between code, split code/wysiwyg and wysiwyg in Dreamweaver without clogging your site with a lot of FrontPage gobbledygook and without having to "disable" any of the helpful stuff.
One of the things I personally like about Front Page is if you disable all the "helpful" stuff as Chris outlined, it can be very convenient to use. I do a lot of coding, so I spend most of my time on the html tab, but it's nice to click the tab and see the work.
