IMHO, the problem with Adobe's User Guides and online
help for FrameMaker, Photoshop, and Illustrator have
been:
1) Inaccuracies in the content
2) Inability to find--by index and also search--the
content you need; particularly, you must know a good
deal about a feature before you can find content about
the feature (series labels in FM come to mind)
3) The WORST example of single sourcing I've ever seen
in my life
Hopefully, the new book is from scratch and addresses
many of these problems. And, while the online help has
been the same as the user guide, given the poor
indexing and searching capabilities of the online
help, I've always had an easier time finding content
by thumbing through a hardcopy of the UG ... thumbing
through an online help project is harder to do. So, I
would miss the hardcopy user guide.

Keri,
For several years now, while Adobe manuals have had
great production
values (good typography, printing, etc.), their
content has been
word-for-word identical to online help, with no
additional information.
So the decision to charge $50 for those users who
salivate over bound
manuals makes sense.
