Well, you could hit the screwed up files only, and
copy the footnote text, delete the footnote, and then
re-create it by pasting the text back into a new
footnote. Manual process, but less time-consuming.
I've not seen this before, but it could be one of a
couple of things:
1. a cross-reference to another bookmark
2. a variable
3. A nasty Word glitch (or something done oddly in
Word that FM doesn't understand)
Try posting to Framers if you haven't already, and
don't poo-poo the cut/paste suggestion, as it might be
the fastest route to a solution, at least in the short term.
