The latter reads fine. This sort of thing comes up a lot and it always seems
to work to let the latter verb govern the preposition. Prepositions, after
all, do not carry meaning. They are purely a grammatical device to indicate
the associativity of words that do carry meaning. As such, there is no issue
of ambiguity here, only one of naturalness, and the latter formulation is
both natural and common.
