Check out the articles and books at SitePoint (www.sitepoint.com). Topics
covered include client-side and server-side coding, usability and design,
site planning, e-commerce, etc.

You can download four free chapters of each book to see if you like it.
Kevin Yank's _Build Your Own Database Driven Website Using PHP and MySQL_
looks pretty good.

They also host discussion forums and put out a pretty good biweekly
newsletter.

HTH!
