You know, if I were a prospective employer screening this list for potential
employees, I'd have little trouble weeding out some of the chaff. From my
perspective, nobody owes anyone anything, and the concept of fair when
applied to a particular requirement an employer might have to fill their
needs somehow doesn't enter the picture. You're either qualified, or you
get qualified. If it's something you want to do and can get qualified at,
you pursue what you have to in order to fill the requirements. If it's
something that's out of your reach for whatever reasons, you focus on
something else, doing what you have to, until you find something you like.

Reminds me of my days cleaning the gunk out of SUV owners' swimming pools.
I didn't like what I did, but we were able to eat. It was during those times
that I became a fairly attentive student of philosophy (e.g., read Lasch).
Those days were tough. Today, I'm working my way up to lead, happy with my
job and doing my best, in an environment where many of my peers would rather
focus on problems instead of solutions.

Know what? I'm getting noticed. : )
