The answer, as always, is 42. Congrats to John and Goober!

The original (and I daresay, real) focus of this discussion was on
civility, not numbers. Yes, reducing posts was mentioned as a way to
curb non-civility, but in the numbers that have been quoted, I am
missing one thing:

How many were not civil, and by whom? Isn't that what we should be
focusing in on? The non-civil responses?

I don't like limiting posts for the following reason:

Let's say I am between projects, and today is the day where I have a
little bit of breathing room. Should my 12 years of tech writing (and 6
of managerial) experience be reduced to one, two, or three posts just
because? That's the beauty of an e-mail list; you contribute when you
can, and by the numbers on this list, hopefully we'll have "coverage"
for all of the questions asked.

I thought this list was about contributing to each other's work day, not
picking the best time to post your (x) number of posts per day.
