Eileen Neumann wants someone [to] explain what a software development lifecycle is.

If you read the book, "Code Complete" you will have a better idea of SLDC than most of the programmers you work with. I think that the increasing requests for tech writers that understand SLDC stems from a lack of understanding by newer programmers.
