TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Whilst I am nodding in general agreement, I would add
that as a technical writer I have, over these long
years, become sensitive to two things that perhaps
technical writers are more sensitive to than the
general business population:
1) Plagarism
2) Software piracy
That is, my experience is that the general business
community views art or content on the Web as communal,
and purchased software as owned and therefore
communal. Or, am I mistaken in projecting my
sensitivities onto the technical writing community as
a whole?
Otherwise, that's a pretty harsh assessment of
Intercom and, if those thoughts be generally held to
be true, how do we fix it?
Cheers,
Sean
