Hi Amy - Check the archives, where we endlessly debate the qualifications
needed for tech writing. And check the job listings in your target area -
they should immediately illuminate areas of expertise that are necessary.
I aim this next comment not at you, but at the educational system:
To be this close to graduating, and only NOW starting to concern yourself
with what job opportunities exist (and what skills are required) makes me
think that some colleges are not doing a good job of preparing students
for The Real World.
Now more than ever, I think that's a shame. I know, in the long run the
responsiblity for finding your place in the world falls on the individual,
but I gotta wonder if they couldn't at least include in their curriculum a
course or two in How To Deal With What's Out There.
But then again, I think more people should use their turn signals, too, so
maybe I'm just naive.
Anyway, good luck!
