We use "platform" to refer to the customer's combination of
computer, OS (and OS version) -- e.g., Solaris 8 on a Sunfire280R
or Windows 2000 Server SP 3 on a quad-Pentium 4 blah-blah...
Red Hat Linux 8.0 on anything :-)
