It shouldn't be a big deal. I've yet to meet someone who follows either
of these books to the letter. Usually you pick a pre-fab reference to
use asa a starting point and then wrap your company-specific conventions
around it. What usually happens is the APA/CMS is used only as an
if-all-else-fails point of order mechanism, where your coprorate style
guide stands as the common use guide for writing.

I personally use the CMS and the MS Manual of Style as a base upon which
I build a corporate guide. CMS is reserved for quieting English language
and phrasing debates, and the MSMoS is used for GUI terminology and
basic Windowsese. All else is settled by a local corporate style guide.
