"Journal" would be accurate if you wrote in it more or less daily. Blogs tend to be more flexible than that, and are often running commentaries on just about anything. I think the term blog has come to include news pages on websites as well. See http://www.elektrik-sheep.com/newspro/ regarding news pages and http://www.blogger.com for info on blogs.

Due, probably, to the popularity of the term and its ability to trip off the tongue, I think it's being misused. It seems to me, with my rudimentary understanding of the term, it's being stretched to cover much more than journals. Unless, of course, I'm misunderstanding it...
