Oh, here's another one:
If you have enough real estate, include the full text of the
original job posting in your cover letter: "I am responding to
the following job posting...[paste full text here]"

Not to belabor the point, but see the T-letter article on the Tech-whirler's website. I always use the job posting language in my cover letter, and often change my resume to include "keywords."

The night before a job fair back in the "glory days", I found a listing for a job I wanted. I made my resume match the job description, and presented the custom-written resume to the company involved. The recruiter said, "Wow! This is exactly what we are looking for!" :)

(P.S. I took a different job, but that was the days when you got 10 offers by simply walking through a job fair.)
