Yup. You are off base. Way off base.

If people want to ask about who owns my company and what the business model
is, then ask away. I may even not participate, just to see what the
perception is. That is important info for me to have. I work with
subcontractors all over the country. I may very well want to use them in the
future. They are new on the playing field and I asked legit and not
provocative questions.

I did not disparage thehelpfactory. I did not take the discussion in the
direction it went. I am not responsible for where it went. You cannot hold
me accountable for where this went and I stopped participating when it went
in directions that were not good. I tried to bring it back in a better
direction this morning.

I am VERY upset that you would suggest that I acted without integrity. I
hold my integrity to be more important than my marriage, my kid and making
money. VERY angry, frankly. The one thing that can be said about me is that
I act with integrity in everything. I admit when I made a mistake,
apologize, clean it up, and move on.

I am VERY hot that you are blaming me in a public forum for the actions of
others. Hot enough to not be entirely rational. Which for me is VERY angry.
I am actually yelling at you and waving my arms. I am also trying to be
nice, which is not something I am good at when I am this angry. And I am not
swearing, which for me is remarkable (My husband and my kid would tell you
this is a first!). Be happy this is email. In person I do not usually show
this much personal control when I am this angry.

You made a mistake. Clean it up.

sharon

Perhaps. But let me boil this issue down to its essence:

Do YOU feel it would be appropriate for somebody to publicly write to this
list - before writing to YOU - and ask everybody what they knew about YOUR
tech writing company, even when you have an informative website with plenty
of direct e-mail links?

Maybe I'm off-base, but I don't think this is the venue for that. For
example, if somebody wrote something about your company that you disagreed
with, you'd want to reply, but then you'd be *advertising* - which is of
course forbidden on THIS list. So you'd be helpless to respond.

Sorry, but this just doesn't seem like the place to critique tech writing
companies. If you want to know more about them, write directly to them. Ask
them for references. Ask around offlist to see if anybody's had any run-ins
with them.

But maybe I'm wrong.

Eric, it's your list - what do you think?

Respectfully,
Keith Cronin
