I haven't seen Washington covered yet, so here goes:

I'm a tech writer living in Washington. I own 13 pairs of sunglasses,
but who knows where any of them are, since it's so long between sunny
days that I lose them and have to buy another pair. I used to work at
Microsoft, but retired at age 32 just before the stock market crashed. I
own a condo in trendy Pioneer Square in Seattle, but prefer to live in
my log cabin facing the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the island that served
as model for "Snow Falling on Cedars." I know at least 5 different words
for precipitation, ranging from "mist" to "rain" and all stages in
between. The trees here grow moss on all sides, not just the north, and
I spend the days at my old manual typewriter, longing to be closer to
the center of publishing so it wouldn't be so hard to get a novel
published. I spend a lot of time correcting people when they ask me if
I'm in walking distance of the Pentagon, and isn't the Lincoln Memorial
lovely. (Oh, THAT Washington.) *sigh*

(The bit about the sunglasses is only a slight exaggeration.)
