As other posters have pointed out, most decent e-mail programs allow you
to create rules to manage your incoming mail. They are probably a better
choice than a blanket kill-after-5-messages application. In my job I've
seen work-related e-mail threads reach astounding lengths, but to have
missed any of them might have ruined a project, so such an application
would be a huge detriment for me.
If this message is a poke at the lengthy angels-on-the-head-of-a-pin
threads that frequently develop here, I recommend you set your TECHWR-L
options to "no mail," and read the list on the Web, where you can pick and
choose by subject line - I've been doing that for years, after my box kept
filling up with individual messages (or digests) that I could just never
get around to opening.
