John wonders about frequent updates (poor summary, but you know what I'm talkin about, right?)
The paper waste alone for such a printed book is a nightmare. :-( I'm not an environmentalist by any means, but yikes! I think you should just go with a release schedule, that would at least limit having to recreate a new book, and print it out, every other day. Maybe you could simply insert a few blank pages for your users to use to take notes in regarding things that are slated to be changed. For instance, if it's discovered that section B has to be changed in a certain way, someone can send you along an email, and they could jot down the change on the blank pages. Simple, low-tech, no training involved.
Or you could go wtih a web-based design that uses XML. Create a JavaScript application that allows your users to update the docs with new information whenever they want (that's if you don't mind people making such updates).
"Whatever you do, do NOT let your editorial decisions be made by the squiggly spell-checking lines in Word!" ~Keith Cronin, Techwr-l irritant ;-)
