For an excellent example of this kind of book, written in an extremely reader-friendly way, check out "The Wealthy Barber" by Dave Chilton. It was written for a Canadian audience but the principles are universal: saving, debt, dollar cost averaging, life insurance, real estate, etc. (basically most of the subjects you've mentioned below).

TW tie-in: The book is written in the narrative style of a series of visits to a barber who doles out financial advice. The style takes a potentially dry and complicated subject, and simplifies it to the essentials in an easy to understand format.

Perhaps a chapter or two discussing financial products like like insurance (home, auto, and life) and how to make the comparisons necessary to get the "best" product for your money. Heck, it may even need a chapter on personal bookkeeping that covers keeping track of bills and balancing a check book -- but maybe my daughters are outside the norm ;)
