That is definitely one of the changes with HTML 4.0. Since this version relies heavily on CSS, ending tags (even the devilish /p) have to be included while coding the HTML.
Glad that you got that solved. It never occured to me to think about what your problem was, I just assumed that you found that written somewhere.
