Rose,
I know it's unfair that one's age should work against one. People
generally have an attitide about it, like: How come s/he is only a Tech
Writer? There must be something wrong!
They don't stop to think that Tech Writing as a profession is very recent
(atleast in India). When handled by someone with a few years of work ex
under his/her belt, there is a greater maturity in approach, understanding
and writing. I have come across a lot of tech writers who think that just
the ability to speak/write a complete sentence in English without a
grammatical error is a passport to the profession.
Also, people don't stop to think that it is a labor of love (and love of
labor :-)) for many of us.
Another thing is that the profession itself is undervalued by many.
All reasons that have persuaded me to study and maybe change career.
Nayanika
Of course I wouldn't think of fudging my age!!! They really don't know
what they are missing.....
