As long as we are throwing in suggestions for alternative text editors, I'd
like to suggest my favorite, UltraEdit.
First, I am in NO way associated with them other than being a satisfied
customer.
UE is a shareware app ($35) that has spell check, line numbering, column
numbering, compare (two files), send as email, file tree, and is fully
customizable.
For instance, I use it to create ASCII SGML files. I've customized it to
show my SGML tags in blue while the rest of my text is in black.
Best $35 I've spent.
