Subject:Managing your tech writing career From:"Andrew T. Brooke" <abrooke -at- pathcom -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 19 Sep 2002 09:29:32 -0400
Career management/job hunting has always been a strong interest for me. I'm
starting a new monthly career management column in my local STC newsletter.
I plan to cover such topics as:
- identifying your strengths and weaknesses
- networking and researching
- resumes and cover letters
- traditional vs.. non-traditional methods of finding work
- interviewing and negotiating
- staying motivated throughout your job hunt
If anyone has any suggestions for this column, I'd love to hear them,
especially your career hunting highlights and nightmares, like the
interviewer from hell!
I myself am looking for work as a full time tech writer in the Toronto area,
but I think I'm fairly close to finishing my search. If anyone wants to
exchange tips, email me.
For those of you outside of Toronto, the current column is at:
