Can I Get There from Here?

I'm trying to create an image map graphic that uses a mailto link. I've 
experimented systematically,and searched for solutions on the web, but, 
so far, I haven't been succeeded.

I'm starting to think that it can't be done, and that I need to consider 
alternatives.Can any HTML gurus on the list confirm this impression, or 
point me in the right direction?
