You may not see it in job ads where the specific job title is "technical
writer." But it's a legitimate and logical offshoot of the same skillset.
Multimedia is used extensively in creating training materials
(*somebody's* gotta write this stuff), and I frequently see positions for
Curriculum Developers, Training Authors, etc. where that skillset is a
plus, if not a flat-out requirement.

There's more to tech writing than creating a manual in a word-processor or
DTP tool and porting chunks of it into Help files.

Those whose skills go beyond that will find MANY more job prospects.
