If the file contains an EPS graphic, the colors used in the graphic are
added to the document's list of defined colors. I don't think you can avoid
this except by replacing EPS graphics with some other format.

I know that importing a TIFF or a PDF _doesn't_ add its colors to the
document. Not sure about other formats.
