Jason asked:
So, are you a sprinter or a grinder? Or do you think I should just cut
some of the caffeine out of my diet?

You sound like you're doing fine, Jason... don't deprive yourself of the
caffeine! ;-)

I myself am definitely a sprinter. Last week, I got a new challenge
working with one of our engineers on some drawings that needed to be
completed before he could get me information for the instruction manual.
Because I wasn't pressed with any major deadlines, I volunteered to help,
and my supervisor approved it.

When the project was nearly complete, my supervisor and I talked about it.
He told me that the engineer was pleased with my work, that I had learned
quickly and done a great job producing the CAD drawings, bills of material,
and engineering change orders. I told him how much I had enjoyed it, but
now that I know how to do it, I am ready to move on to something else. My
mom says I was like that even as a child--she recalls telling me to fill
the dishwasher once, and I argued that I didn't want to, because I already
knew how to do that!

I probably should be a contractor, so I could have a "new" job every few
months without looking like a job hopper! The only thing keeping me from
doing so is the fact that there are three little mouths in my home who
expect to eat on a regular basis! This area doesn't have a great amount of
tech writing available, and I would worry that I couldn't keep a steady
income flowing into my bank account.

I've been in this position for almost 4 years. There's a good deal of
variety, especially when I volunteer for special projects like this one.
So, I guess I can handle it for a few more years. ;-)

Cheers,
Lisa B.

your perception of your past. You just might discover an entirely new
