I'm Canadian.
1) We tend to be accustomed to the ethnocentricity of our neighbours to the
south. In fact, it's a source of some amusement in our tourist sectors.
How many times have I heard the apocryphal story of the American visiting
Canada in July, with a full ski rack on his car ... ? Of course, the
nearest of our neighbours are smarter than this, mostly because they visit
us regularly. A US buck buys $1.50 Canadian, and on the whole, our beer is
far stronger than yours. (Mass-market American-brewed beer is a source of
considerable amusement for us, too, in a "laughing at," not "laughing with,"
way.)
2) Canadians can be ethnocentric, too, but as a group, we seem to prefer the
"drive-by snubbing" approach. YMMV.
Cheers ... Kim
