What happens to graphics copied into a Word 2002 document? By that, I
mean using Insert > Picture and placing the graphic by pasting not by
linking.

For example, I know Word stores most rasters internally as PNGs. Does
anyone know an exception to this?

What happens to vectors, and EPS? Are they stored internally in WMF or
EMF format, or what?

Is there any loss of quality in such images? If so, why?

Thanks. BTW, I always link my graphics, regardless of where they are
headed. I know Plato does not, maybe he has some knowledge about this?
This particular project is headed to film and plate for press, via
PostScript, and it is not my project, I am living vicariously through
someone else.

Cheers,

Sean
