The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
English as a Foreign Language/Second Language reference books are also very
useful. I currently have Cambridge Univerity Press' _Advanced Grammar in
Use_ on my desk, and it is much thumbed whenever a grammar question arises.
These types of books are useful because they go into a lot more depth than
guides that assume a native speaker audience. For example, EFL references
will cover the use of different prepositions very thoroughly.
Mine was also much cheaper than I expected: EUR18.90.
Of course, you can buy one with answers included and test yourself for
fluency :-)
If your not a native speaker of English, I would _definitely_ recommend
having one of these on your desk.
