I have been following a debate on the yahoogroups computerbookauthors list about whether authors should disclose prior contract information regarding advances and royalties.

I understand that if authors were more knowledgable, then publishers would end up paying more in the way of advances and royalties than they currently do. I would think that a group that allows authors to become knowledgable is a good thing even if publishers have to pay a little bit more.

I would also think a more level playing field would be better for the industry.
