Odd. When I was job hunting in Seattle several months ago, it seemed like the *only* job openings were for telecom. They constituted at least 50% of the writer/editor openings I saw, and a higher percentage of "high-tech". Maybe it was just a fluke of the time.

I seemed to have crossed a line--I now work for a company that tells me what my sig should be...

Perhaps the sudden scarcity of jobs in the telecoms is due to their current financial troubles. WorldCom had a bad quarter and failed to meet analysts' earnings expectations, ditto Eriksson. The market clipped a few million off their valuation. Even AT&T lost 5%.
