Here's an aspect that I didn't see anyone mention. While it shouldn't
necessarily be the deciding factor, you should at least factor it in.
If you were hiring for a technical writing position, and you had several
resumes for people who looked promising, but one of those had actually been
re-hired by a previous employer, wouldn't you put that one on top? That would
tell me that this person was a good enough writer that a company wanted them
back after they had left. Talk about a feather in your cap!
