You can also get laid off at your new company.

A condensed version of your dilemma: Former employer of the dotcom type
laid you off. You got a new job with a boring company with little prospects
for advancement or growth. Former employer retools itself, gets "lean and
mean" and wants you back, offers interesting work, mucho dinero, a sound
business plan opportunities for advancement, and customers for its products.

Without any further information, here's a vote for jumping back ASAP. Why
would you want to stay with your current job? Remember, the best job
security is skills, technical knowledge, and experience - not just having a
dead-end job. You should be flattered they want you back. Good luck. (And
there are probably more than a few folks on the list drooling with envy.)
