I think that's the key point. I personally have no
issue withthe STC other than its position to not allow
free attendance for presenters at its conferences. I
speak at my local chapter meetings and I assist other
chapters and SIGs. But, until the STC does change its
mind concerning conferences, I won't be presenting at
them, nor will I be attending (unless sponsored to do
so) because I think the no-reward policy tends to turn
away the industry experets (IMO). Not that my action
has a devistating impact, but that's my position.

I think, at minimum, if the STC gave presenters free
admission, it'd be enough to attract more talent for
speakers and would put this issue to bed for at least
a while.
