Another possibility is that the person left the job (voluntarily or
not). Happened to me recently, where a contact left and I didn't find
out until weeks later. It wasn't a big deal as my current contract has
been extended. Justin offers a good point about pursuing the contact (or
rather, if the contact has left, pursuing the company). If they have
left and you pursue the job, it may show some initiative.
