Christine and Dana both made a good point - my reply to christine this

No rain, but your point is right on target. Here's a little more background:

We put a front end on basic NT user administration tasks (creating groups,
adding users to groups) so the installer wouldn't have to do a bunch of
tedious admin tasks for each office's setup. However, the installer can do
it that way if they choose.

The front-end won't allow adding a user to more than one group, but the
installer could back-door it through NT user administration. When the
front-end opens up, it scans the available & assigned users, and presents
this message if it finds a double-assignment (and lets you make the
correction).

As for the phrasing, well, let's say the developer was more than a little
annoyed with our installation team (who always fail to read doc and in this
case, weren't using his interface but insisted on setting everything up by
hand).

Thanks for the feedback!

Kim Wallace rejoiced over an error message that praised the documentation:

> "Username belongs to more than one office. It is clearly
> documented in the install guide that an appuser can only
> belong to one office. Please remove username from all
> but one Appname groups."

Two thoughts.

(1) Congratulations! They clearly think highly of your documentation.
(2) They probably shouldn't be phrasing it quite that way. The ONLY thing
that
second sentence does is whack the user over the head: "Hey dummy, didn't you
read the install guide!?"

No, wait. Three thoughts.

(3) Maybe they should tweak the user interface to prevent the user from
associating a username with multiple offices, and then do away with this
error
message entirely.

Not to rain on your parade, though. It's great that the developers respect
your
work.

happy Friday,
Christine
