You can set compatibility options when you print to the Acrobat
Distiller (even if you don't have the source to re-pdf with Acrobat 3.0
compatibility, you can print the pdf itself to Distiller).

1. File => Print.
2. Select the Acrobat Distiller printer. Click Properties.
3. Open the Adobe PDF Settings tab.
4. Click Edit Conversion Settings.
5. Select the appropriate Compatibility on the General tab and click OK.
