I think you've answered your question. There are times when an extra sentence
or phrase makes something that seems implicitly clear explicitly clear. Doing
so reduces, perhaps even eliminates user anxiety. You know that the testers are
likely to complain if this potentially redundant phrase isn't there. I suspect
they may be representative of your user community, too.
So, knowing what you know, I would leave the (redundant?) sentence in the documentation.
