This is very true. My wife is the HR person at a small (30 employees) software company. They use the Monster.ca to advertise postings, and the volume of CVs she receives is incredible. She'll usually get a couple of hundred responses to a single posting. A certan number of those (maybe 10%) are ones that are sent automatically to every posting and are irrelevant to the job (they're from someone who has set up a script to auto-reply). Those go ni the trash immediately but still take
time to sort through.

That being said, job boards are still cost effective for a small company given their reach relative to cost when compared to say, newspaper ads (too expensive), or postings on the company's website (limited reach)
