TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
<< Sometimes, though, I fantasize about writing (snip) "How to get
$1,000,000 tax free." >>
There's always the Steve Martin method: "First, get a million
dollars..." ;-)
It's easy to say "I will only use my power to do good," but it's harder
to live up to that statement. I don't remember who pointed it out, but I
agree with him - it's impossible to answer such a question without any
context. My first responsibility is always going to be my family's
welfare, and there are things I would do if that were threatened that I
would not do otherwise. Of course I still have some *absolute* limits,
but most areas, including the ones mentioned in this thread, are grey
for me. It's hard to find an area that has absolutely no positive
impact. And it's hard to find a "legitimate" product or process that
can't be twisted into some use that I find disagreeable.
