A program was recently posted to another list I'm on with comments that include:

nfohash checks the integrity of folio 4.x .nfo, .sdw and .lcf files
by comparing the (16 bit) hashes present in these files with the
expected values.

....

Publication of this algorithm effectively breaks the rights management of
Folio 4.x .nfo files. (security versions 0x0407, 0x0408, 0x0411 and
possibly later)

I can forward the whole message to anyone who needs it. Contact me off-list.

Folio seems to be an electronic publishing tool:
http://www.datamgt.com/products/knowledge/folio_publisher_4.htm

which claims:

the world's top ten publishers of professional information (and the
majority of Fortune 500 companies) depend on Folio

and makes some claims about security as well.

Does this matter to anyone here?
