Nancy,

You're sure to get a thousand replies...

The short answer is that files imported by reference live outside
of Frame. So when the interface changes, you can make a new screen
shot and save it over the old one, and the image in Frame is
changed, without your ever opening Frame.

If the image were copied in, you'd have to open Frame, delete the
old image, then copy and paste the new one.

Hi,

I've always thought you are supposed to copy imorted graphics into the
document in Frame. I guess I thought you needed them, in some mysterious
way, when you create a file to send out for printing.

Why is it preferable to import by reference. When should you copy into
document, and when should you import by reference.
