You might want to go over your resume very carefully. I've looked at a lot
of resumes from technical writers and, frankly, most of them are pretty bad.
They are badly formatted and lots of times they have spelling and
grammatical errors (that could have been avoided had the writer run the
spelling checker). When I get a resume with a spelling or grammatical error,
I reject it. My feeling is that if a person can't take the time to make sure
his/her own resume is correct, I can't be sure he/she will be careful with
the documentation that goes to our clients.
Another thing you might want to check for is (an this is going to sound
really funny) use of plural possessives. I actually had a resume rejected by
a company because there were "errors." When I asked my recruiter about the
errors (because I am extremely particular about my resume) she pointed to
the plural possessives. They were correct but, needless to say, I removed
them from my resume to avoid confusion.
