Just a thought, I have not needed to do this. But...

If you have MS Word available, you can read in HTML 
and save as Text With Layout. Saving as TWL is designed
to preserve formatting, so will add spaces before each
line of an indented paragraph, etc., to accomplish this.
I suspect it will handle your tables as well.
